Stand-out wines on Ile Saint-Honorat

Some go to benefit from a silent retreat at the abbey, praying, meditating and giving thanks to God; others to savour the tranquillity along with good food and wine. They find harmony together amidst nature. The smallest of the Lérins Islands – Sainte-Marguerite lies opposite – is reached by a regular boat service from Cannes. Aleppo pines, holm oaks, palm trees and lotus trees protect the eight hectares of vines that the community of Cistercian monks cultivates for their Saint-Sauveur, Saint-Lambert, Saint Salonius and Saint-Honorat red wines (syrah and mourvèdre, pinot noir) and their Saint-Pierre, Saint-Cyprien and Saint-Césaire whites (chardonnay, clairette and viognier). Enjoy these in La Tonnelle restaurant or buy them in the monastery's shop. The latest idea: Sea, Wine and Sun cruises on the Saint-Maxime.
