"There is life after breast cancer!" As Angélique proves. Having beaten the disease herself in 2012, she decided to continue the fight on behalf of other women facing the same challenges. By working as a volunteer for the Ligue Contre le Cancer but also by launching Cœur de Lys, a lingerie collection designed specifically for women who have undergone a mastectomy or reconstructive surgery. "Wiring, seams and badly positioned straps make ordinary underwear unsuitable for women who've undergone these operations." Not a new niche market, of course, but most of what is on offer looks rather more "prosthetics accessories" than "sexy undies", hence the importance of an initiative offering comfort and femininity as well! It took Angélique two years to bring her project to fruition: "I didn't know anybody in this business so I just visited all the stands at trade fairs." Finally she found a manufacturer and patternmakers, and a few months later the first prototypes were ready. Her concept was so attractive that the Ligue agreed to a partnership and Angélique won the Rotary Club's 2014 Business Creation Trophy. Her collection has been on sale since last month, online only: "Selling through shops would have put the prices up too much and I want everyone to be able to afford my products." Bravo twice over!
