Can a simple photo help an employee feel better about their work? That's the idea promoted by this professional photographer since he realised, pretty much by chance, that a photo could positively influence someone's morale in the workplace. "Mercedes-Benz Côte d’Azur asked me to photograph all its staff for the website," Gil Zetbase explains. "I noticed that this triggered changes of attitude in those employees: some opened up more to their colleagues, others felt valorised..." Building on that experience, he now offers a novel photographic service to companies: "I go to their premises and together with the staff we work out scenarios for photographing each individual in their work context." The end result could be an exhibition or a book, but the value-added is that the shared experience of the photo shoot creates positive dynamics. And it can go even deeper since a photo is revealing and so communicates any number of messages, such as how an employee fits into the company with regard to their workmates, duties and so on. Information that can prove invaluable to an HR manager needing to resolve difficult or unhappy situations.
