Sophie Delafontaine

  • Discreetly audacious

 Visu portrait longchamp

Sophie Delafontaine is the daughter of Philippe Cassegrain, son of Longchamp's founder. She is the brand's ambassador and has been its artistic director for the past 20 years, working as a team with her brother and father. The slim, light-skinned, clear-eyed Esmod fashion school graduate with the discreet smile has turned her love of art and creativity into a highly professional asset. Whether for the brand's collections, store decoration or event sponsoring, she is constantly meeting and working with amazing people. She especially loves partnering artists for Longchamp capsule collections. Jeremy Scott, for example, has been revisiting the Pliage bag yearly since 2006, adorning it with galaxies, telephones, roses and poodles from his comical Pop-arty repertoire. Sophie also brings permanent artworks into Longchamp stores. In the Champs-Elysées store in Paris she has given free rein to Danish artist Astrid Krogh, while in New Bond Street, London, Maya Hayuk has infused the store with bright, vivacious colour. In Marseille, Longchamp has sponsored artist Felice Varini's superb installation on the roof of the Cité Radieuse, part of
Ora-ïto's MAMO exhibition. Such bold ventures can never diminish the brand's elegant chic, because this is true art.
