When it comes to electronic dance music we Niçois know a thing or two! Following in the footsteps of The Avener, Feder and Møme, now Mr Luke (Le Consulat's resident DJ) and Nicolas Saad (the Blue Gin's) are topping sales with their first album, Monday Highlife. The all-Riviera production on Moving Head Records, an independent Monegasque label, zipped to third place in the iTunes dance sales in the very first week after its release last August, an unexpected level of success that the duo puts down to their well-honed funky disco sound, but not entirely: “To get ourselves known we started a weekly internet meet-up, from which the album takes its title: each Monday at 6pm we posted a short light-hearted video of ourselves on YouTube, the idea being to preview a track we'd just composed and involve people in the making of our album.” A brainwave! And this pair of passionate DJs is already preparing a second album. “We're hoping to do even better! The number of people following us is growing constantly and our next project has some surprises in store, starting with a 3D track!” In the run-up to its release next January, connect with them via social networking every Monday!
