Proudly sporting his club's polo shirt, this young Laser sailor in the Yacht Club de Monaco's racing section is already flying the Monegasque flag high. At just 18, and only three years after starting to sail Laser dinghies, Jérémy Moutout recently won the 2016 Laser Radial European cup, a praiseworthy first for Monaco. With the strength and determination that characterise great champions, he is starting to prepare for the Olympics this year, having moved on to Laser Standard in January. "The Olympics is a childhood dream. I'm hoping to qualify for 2020, and why not 2024! But above all I must pass my baccalauréat, because although I'd love to earn a living from my passion, I do need to think about a second choice." Head in the spray but feet on the ground, Jérémy has set his course for a sailing career: "I'm focused on the Olympics but I don't exclude other competitions, such as the America’s Cup, and other boats – I'm thinking particularly of the GC32 that I had the opportunity of sailing with Pierre Casiraghi." Jérémy is surely the world's youngest regatta sailor to have helmed that "flying boat ", a real F1 craft, and he hopes one day to join Casiraghi's Malizia crew.
