The 48-year-old Grasse native is one of world perfumery's top talents, recently named 2017 Perfumer of the Year by Cosmétiquemag magazine. Well-deserved recognition from his profession, both for his best-seller of the year, Azzaro Wanted, and for a career milestoned by admirable successes – creations for Paco Rabanne, Nina Ricci, Réminiscence, Diptyque and Estéban. You could say Pellegrin, presently world perfumery giant Firmenich's 'nose', has perfume in his blood! “My grandmother was a Grasse flower picker and my father a perfumer with Robertet for over 40 years.” An inherited talent then? Not entirely, for Fabrice Pellegrin is also gifted with exceptional sensitivity. “Creating perfume is about knowing how to turn what the client envisages into olfactory notes then tell a beautiful story.” On a never-ending quest for new fragrances, he draws his inspiration from the heart of nature but strives to add his personal touch to each composition. “I've a weakness for characterful and spicy notes but above all I just love patchouli, I put it in everything!” Although making no bones about being happy in his work, Fabrice Pellegrin nevertheless has ambitions for the future: “My biggest dream-come-true would be to end my career in a big luxury house such as Hermès, Dior or Chanel.” Remember those words...
