“My personal REN? A horizon of dreams, a path of happiness.” That’s how the interview starts. Normal, since the last time COTE spoke with the codirector (with brother Lionel) of Peradotto Publicité visual communication agency she had just launched her new REN concept. “In Ancient Egypt ren was the name part of the soul. To the Chinese it’s a pillar of Confucian philosophy, denoting love for humanity, personal goodness and altruism.” Way more than a marketing idea (log onto www.ren.fr and select a quotation to have printed on a picture of your choice), REN has become the leitmotiv guiding Claire Peradotto’s existence. A horizon of dreams? “Because they’re necessary and realising them takes you forwards.” A path of happiness? “Every day we need to give ourselves some pleasure!” And for that she has an infallible recipe: “Today I have four strands to my life: personal, work, family and society. Most people compartmentalise these different spheres, on the contrary they should interact all together. Why? Because then they will feed each other by osmosis so as to attain a state of overall harmony. It’s the only way to be true to oneself.” For Claire Peradotto this vital quest for personal, private equilibrium doesn’t equate to egoistical introversion, quite the opposite; it’s the sine qua non for being able to open up to others with love and generosity. “I adore going off with my rucksack discovering the world. The more you travel, the more you enrich yourself with others’ cultures. Meeting many different people is a great source of tolerance for others. Plus it allows you to relativise and to see how insignificant you really are and that the important thing is we all try to do some good in the world, each one as and how we can.”
