Talented young comic Laurent Barat has already opened for Mado la Niçoise and Les Chevaliers du Fiel and is now supporting Gad Elmaleh with excerpts from his new show, Laurent Barat a presque grandi. "What if being 35, single and childless wasn't tragic?" jokes the comedian. "I felt like taking a laughing look at my life and explaining why I'm just fine." No black humour, no coarse jokes, his is a show for everyone, in which we easily recognise ourselves. Ex-partners who undermine new love affairs, unpleasant co-workers, Kafkaesque hotlines, useless diets... the kind of stuff we've all experienced. After being discovered on the Bar des Oiseaux's stage, Laurent Barat has already appeared on TV several times. "I dreamed of being a footballer, and now I get the same thrill every night," he enthuses, presently on tour with Gad Elmaleh and playing to packed houses. This summer you can catch this talented young comic at the Avignon Fringe Festival, before he tours France with his one man show this autumn.
