"I've always done just what I wanted!" Olivier Monin doesn't split hairs, a temperament that explains why his Court-Métrage salon that celebrated its 30th birthday this May is always packed out. Coming from Franche-Comté to seek his fortune in Nice, Olivier wasn't going to let others tell him how to do his thing. "I wanted to create a place that didn't look like the kind of hair salon we're used to seeing." So he did, falling in love with improbable premises in Old Nice, a shop that used to sell gadgets, just 32m2, opening up with a décor that broke with all the traditions of the profession – initially punk, today contemporary –, turning the music up and imposing cuts a million miles from the perm-and-tint brigade. "I'm not a doormat hairstylist pandering to my clients' whims. I'm out to enjoy myself and if people are stubborn I throw them out! No VIP treatment in my salon." His attitude pleases and has earned him a loyal clientele from very diverse horizons: artist, press editor, local granny, student, workman...
