“2018 is without a doubt the best year of my life.”
Behind Olena Prykhodko’s big blue eyes lies a determined 25-year-old businesswoman capable of discussing cryptocurrency risks in one breath and the latest episode of her favourite series in the next, with equal fervour. “Unpredictable and passionate” is how her husband describes her. A few weeks before completing her mandate as President of the Junior Chamber International Monaco, Olena tells us the year has been a whirl of excitement, trips abroad and official meetings. “2018 is without a doubt the best year of my life, but I’ve had to learn how to manage a team of volunteers and achieve consensus.” Olena has entrepreneurship in her blood. Raised in Ukraine by a businessman father and a law-lecturer mother, she has inherited her parent’s ambition and integrity. From her teenage years she became involved in associations of various sorts and helped run United Nations education projects; in 2009 Ukraine’s cabinet of ministers even awarded her a medal for “her outstanding contribution to young people’s development”. Olena has always known her mind: “When I was seven years old I saw myself graduating from Oxford,” she admits. At 16 she arrived in Nice, where she completed her studies by a two-year Masters degree in business law before beginning her professional career in Monaco with a multi-family office, then cofounding Modelex, the private education specialist. Being married to an Englishman, Ukrainian Olena is fluent in English as well as Russian and French, delighting in the different cultural codes she is able to decipher. Open to all the world has to offer, she is presently turning her attention to Japan: “I love the country and the culture; my interest is both personal and professional.” We can safely say that Olena isn’t the type to set herself limits, the entire planet is her playground!
