The benefits of Mediterranean plants
Natural cosmetics are definitely having their moment. Sustainable, ecologically produced and scientifically validated, these alternatives are driving innovation. In this context, NissActive grew out of Hortense Plainfossé’s research since 2016 for her doctorate at the Institut de Chimie in Nice. “I worked on some 150 plants in this region and three in particular retained my attention: the truffle oak, the plum tree and the germander,” the young chemist tells us. So NissActive in Grasse develops high-spec natural ingredients in line with consumers’ ethical principles and respectful of the environment. Presently Plainfossé is concentrating on an active ingredient extracted from the branches and leaves of the truffle oak. Its properties? It works on the enzymes that wear out collagen and elastin, so has hydrating and anti-ageing effects.
