Modern technology has revolutionised everyday life, and the property market is no exception. Mathieu Garotta of Riviera Réalisation talks us through some recent developments.

Web searches for somewhere to rent or buy, online home exchanges for holidays, cohousing, shared gardens... our property demands are becoming techier, greener and more sociable. In a few short years technological innovations have changed purchasing habits beyond recognition. “We've data-mapped our Les Hauts des Pins residence in La Garde so potential buyers can see it on their computer or smartphone just as if they were there, and even 'visit' it using virtual-reality glasses,” Mathieu Garotta, one of the first to offer this possibility, in 2015, explains enthusiastically. “These cardboard glasses you can buy easily on the web or at retailers are much more user-friendly than virtual reality masks.” Each buyer has their own web account with all their digital documents (contracts, plans, etc.), where they can follow the building process step by step through updates and photos. “We're presently also developing electronic contract signing, a secure, reliable process that's better for the environment and saves time.” There's a growing demand too for connected homes, a solution that Riviera Réalisation can incorporate on request.
