Azur Tech Concept came into being in November 2014 with a staff of three: Damien Sénéchal, Cyril Giacomoni and Cédrik Sénéchal. The first is a programmer, the second a salesman and the third a home-automation technician specialised in handicaps. Cédrik Sénéchal explains: "We design and manufacture innovative appliances using the latest computing and electronics technology. Today, miniaturisation enables us to develop efficient, innovative portable appliances. We became interested in handicaps and several ideas emerged; out of each came a product answering a specific need." This example is an app that transforms the text a deaf person writes into speech – via a voice synthesiser – and their interlocutor's speech into written text – via voice recognition. Frequently used words and phrases, such as "hello", "bye-bye", "thank you", are pre-recorded and the voice-recognition texts can be altered if necessary. The "Aid for the deaf and hearing-impaired" app dispenses with the need to know sign language in order to communicate with deaf people, who often have trouble making themselves understood verbally. It carries no advertising and can be downloaded free from Google Play.
