The intention here was to create a transition between the differing scales of the neighbouring buildings, to minimise the site's inconveniences and maximise the views. The tiny 1190m² plot is awkwardly shaped and uncomfortably close to a major road and railway line. Le Cédrat comprises three 4-floor apartment blocks on a shared basement, providing 13
apartments with parking spaces. The footprint of each block is similar to that of the detached homes above the site, whereas the height and urban character channel the apartment buildings mainly to the south of Voie Mathis. To deal with the problems of noise and pollution, the north and south façades have few openings while the east and west ones are protected, and have far-reaching views over gardens.
