Once again, the fifth contemporary architecture competition organised by the SACA* and COTE Magazine has singled out the Riviera's most remarkable new builds, revealed on 20 October.
Since it started in 2013, the ArchiCOTE competition's aim has been to promote contemporary architecture through the most diverse projects possible. The Côte d’Azur's architects influence the Riviera economy enormously through their creativity and initiatives; for
that reason and because valorising Riviera excellence is the SACA's and COTE Magazine's vocation, this means of paying tribute to their work was conceived. Prizes are awarded in seven categories: Less is More, Villa, Rehabilitation, Project, Student, Amenity and Multi-Occupancy Housing. The judges also award a special tribute, this year to architect Georges Buzzi. Each entry is assessed by the jury according to precise criteria. Initially the judges verify that the project is truly contemporary and the end result complies with the dossier. Then they evaluate the architect's boldness and self-imposed quality requirements, how the building fits into its surroundings, the quality of the end result and of the presentation. And the verdict falls. The winners receive trophies crafted by the artist ZED, presented by ArchiCOTE partners Tordo, Jbonet, Cavallari, Miele and Club Airport Premier (Aéroport Nice Côte d’Azur) at a big reception held at the Villa Arson advanced national school of arts on 20 October.
