For several generations the B. family has owned land on the slopes of Mont Lozère in the Cévennes, with chestnut trees and the ruins of a stone shack. A wonderful place for contemplation and introspection. But its isolation imposed restrictions on the project as the site is accessible only on foot, so all the materials for the renovation had to be carried up by hand. How to build or rebuild a stone house without using animals or vehicles to bring sand and the usual construction materials? The solution taken for this hut was to build up the walls using cork tiles laid like bricks. Two elements add a modern touch: the front door, indicating the proportions of the original openings, and the long south-facing window for gazing out at the wonderful panorama of the mountains. Here you are immersed in very big country.
