This competition recompenses the best new developments by the members of the French property developers' federation. A showcase promoting quality, knowhow and innovation.
The 15th Pyramides d'Argent awards once again spotlighted the achievements of private-sector developers and the excellent quality of Riviera realisations. From the eight prize-winners* we've selected our three favourites. The Industrial Innovation Prize went to Altarea Cogedim's Le Domaine de Gairaut: five small blocks providing 25 apartments, set in 46,000m² of grounds. "To avoid impinging, we ruled out large blocks as unsuited to the site, and the idea of linear housing that blights the countryside," architect Jean-Paul Gomis explains. The landscaping undertaken by Guillermin was focused on conserving and valorising the plot's existing assets: retaining the old stone terracing, restructuring an olive orchard of 250 trees, some 200 years old – the estate will produce its own oil – and planting fruit trees. Our second choice is Tamarins Développement's Dolce Villa in Nice, which took the Public Prize. An elegantly modern residential block comprising 19 apartments on six floors, this is situated close by the Gare du Sud, the old railway station presently being transformed into a permanent food market and a 2000-seat multiplex. Lastly, the Special Jury Prize spotlighted Riviera Réalisation's Espace Riviera residence in Saint-Isidore, on the edge of the eco-valley development, a fast-growing area offering homes and work opportunities in an environment well provided with green spaces and wide roads.
