The opening of new road links will reduce traffic along Boulevard de Plombières and the viaduct above it, on the border between Marseille's 3rd and 14th arrondissements, and so release space for pedestrians and public transport. A new tram line is also part of the plan. This project therefore proposes to turn the viaduct into a pedestrian promenade, accessed every 200m by five visually striking structures faced in Corten steel, standing out colourfully from their surroundings. This upgrade of Boulevard de Plombières is grounded in revalorising the existing buildings and structures and making the most of those with architectural and historical value. Boulevard and viaduct are transformed, demonstrating a new way of handling urban space.
