In its immediate vicinity after the roundabout, the unbeatable Caesar’s Thumb bronze statue sets the tone! Inaugurated in 1994 and reopened this spring, the MAC has successfully received its facelift with its new lobby, reinvented indoor/outdoor discovery path and roof terrace regenerating shadow and light and offers its visitors a breathtaking scenography of major works. Its exceptional collection of a thousand modern and contemporary artworks originally curated by the Cantini Museum was born from the breakaway from the New Realists. Its popularity will assert itself on the national and international scene with temporary exhibitions bringing Mediterranean talents together with resounding artists. Narrative Portrayal, Arte Povera, American conceptual and performative art, Fluxus and Supports Surfaces form the cornerstone of its display pieces. Its documentation center has a collection of over 65,000 volumes. With proposals now including digital and video creation, the redesigned MAC welcomes open-air performances to its garden.  Dance, music, fashion and private events compete for a spot on its roof. The field is wide. Contemporary concerns are addressed. Profiles are mixed, the young enter and exit, joyfully attentive to this immersive and playful experience which shakes up your senses.
