Nice artist Silva Usta likes early morning swims in the Mediterranean, where she became aware of an ever-growing number of tattooed swimmers. Which gave her the idea for this exhibition: “Quite apart from tattoos being trendy right now, there are much more profound reasons for having yourself tattooed.” So here, ethnic motifs, flowers, birds, animals, dates, playing cards, notes of music... represent stories written in flesh. To remember or perhaps to help forget. These individual memories take the form of art photos and recorded testimonies. The vernissage on 4 April features a video projected on the frontage and every Thursday there will be a performance by Silva Usta or one of her friends, such as dancer Lisie Philip who started the Antipodes company.
