Might contemporary creation offer concrete solutions for living better together? Make us question our certainties through contact with international artists? A sea change on the way!
Dynamic and inventive, Claire Migraine has more than one trick up her sleeve for connecting the general public with contemporary art. She studied art history and exhibition curatorship then in London founded Thankyouforcoming, an art platform that ignores geographical and social boundaries, before moving to the Côte d’Azur. “I felt Nice wasn’t much of an artistic melting-pot, unlike Marseille for example, so in 2015 I launched the ACROSS Residencies,” the trendily-dressed enthusiastic young woman explains. Her idea? Invite art-world professionals from abroad to come and explore the Riviera’s lively art scene and share their experiences widely through lectures, exhibitions and other public events. This April’s guest is Rosanna Del Solar introducing us to Peru’s contemporary art scene, then stay tuned for ACROSS Residencies throughout the year! Always on the go, Claire Migraine is also a mediator of the New Patrons programme supported by the Fondation de France; this enables anyone who so desires to take responsibility for commissioning an artwork relevant to a society issue. An example? “A pigeon-fanciers’ association’s pigeon loft was falling down so their special knowhow was being lost. Designer artist Matali Crasset designed a superb unit for them.” Most definitely art for living and sharing.
