This year Nice celebrates the 100th anniversary of its legendary Victorine film studios that hosted some of the biggest names in the industry – François Truffaut, Alfred Hitchcock, Woody Allen.... Events throughout year will mark this, launched by the Nice Carnival whose King took the guise of Pierrot in Children of Paradise, filmed in the Riviera’s capital. The Nice movie world will be all over town too in seven exhibitions within the fourth Biennale des Arts festival, some of which open in May, including “La Victorine Through Mirkine Eyes”, “Nice as Cinemapolis” and “Devil in The Flesh – Op Art Electrifying Cinema”. Cut scenes, film-shoot photos, original manuscripts, interviews with artists of the day and so forth take us behind the Nice film-industry scenes, to the undoubted fascination of die-hard fans and the simply curious too.
