Since 1967 the British art duo (“we are two people but a single artist“) has been producing a totally individual body of work at odds with the vogues and dictates of the so-called art scene. Their “sculptures“ subtly “grounded in the real world“ are nonetheless hugely popular with collectors and public alike. The selection of 46 pieces on exhibition until 2 November at the NMNM comes from a Swiss family collection based in Monaco. Gilbert & George themselves have arranged the hanging over Villa Paloma’s three floors.
