Bringing art and nature together is one of Cannes city council’s ambitions, so it regularly organises cultural events on the largest of the Lérins Islands, particularly in summer. Leading the field is Between Land and Sea, the second Rencontre Internationale de Land Art, around the Etang du Batéguier (a nature reserve since 2002) until 31 August – don’t miss it! Sixteen artists chosen by portfolio spent a week on the island creating individual artworks in situ using only natural components they found on the spot. Another journey and promise of escapism is tendered by photographer Dolorès Marat, whose exhibition at the Musée de la Mer until 28 September reveals another facet of the work that made her famous in the 2000s. Here Mediterranean light and ancient architecture replace the urban ambiences of New York and Paris.
