Auctions may be a regular feature of the summer season in the Principality, but Artcurial has several surprises in store for fine car collectors. After selling a Matra MS 670, winner of the 24 Heures du Mans, at the beginning of the year, the Artcurial Motorcars team is presenting 100 or so models, including the unique Peugeot 205 T16 series 200 in Pioneer livery, an Aston Martin DB5, and Paul Bouvot’s Lamborghini Miura p. 400. The Artcurial Jewellery and Watchmaking Collection departments’luxury sales are another major part of the summer programme. An opportunity to find iconic pieces by Cartier, creations from the Art Deco period up to the 1990s, including the famous Tête de Maure brooch from 1960, along with Repossi, the house that cultivates the tradition of Italian elegance. And while Rolex and the other pillar of Swiss watchmaking, Philippe Patek, are featured in the horology auction, the Le Temps est féminin sale unveils some of the superb, cuffed watches that Piaget has made one of its signatures. On the Hermès & Luxury Bags side, more than 40 bags, including a So-Black Birkin 30 in Nile crocodile, await fashionistas. The season ends with the 2nd edition of the Monaco Sculptures auction, featuring some of the great names in contemporary sculpture, including Niki de Saint-Phalle and Lynn Chadwick. So many precious jewels and rare objects looking for a buyer.
