Nice is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site as a “winter resort town”, because it was originally the preferred wintering spot for royalty and high society. Winter tourism shaped its architecture and gardens before it became one of the world’s most popular destinations for summer tourists. Sovereigns, authors, musicians, filmmakers and painters have all fallen in love with its climate, light and panoramic views of the Mediterranean. Paris Match magazine is displaying 52 large format panels of images from its photo archives, depicting treasures of the French Riviera, from historic rose-coloured roofs to modern white buildings.
