A canvas slowly burns in the flame of a candle, a leaf taken from nature is illuminated by electric wires. Deeply symbolic and spiritual, the work of this Italian artist associated with Arte Povera is the subject of a retrospective on the three floors of Villa Paloma. Pier Paolo Calzolari works with poor materials, considering them as they change rather than as finished products. He presents works dating from 1960 to 2014, including iconic installations such as Lasciare il posto and Tolomeo, featuring a frosted shelf and table.
A journey that draws on hermeticism and medieval alchemy. Memorable.
