Until 22 November, Haut-de-Cagnes's castle museum hosts the third contemporary art biennial organised by the Union Méditerranéenne pour l’Art Moderne, founded by Matisse and Bonnard to promote living arts and the young art scene. This year 65 artists from around the Mediterranean (Greece, Morocco, Italy, Syria even...) have pitted their artistic wits against each other on the theme of "Stagings". Material means of expression, such as enamelled pottery for Marc Alberghina and tyres for Stefano Bombardieri, alternate with light shows and stage effects in an exhibition space itself conceived as an artwork. As usual, four artists have been awarded prizes for their work: Nicolas Rubinstein received the Ville de Cagnes-sur-Mer Prize, Syrian artist Bahram Hajou the Matisse Prize, Guy Brunet the Bonnard Prize, and Naziha Mestaoui the Jean Moulin Prize for Bodies in Resonance.
