Impossible not to have come across at least one of Patrick Swirc's photos of celebrities since portraiture is his forte. At the Théâtre de la Photo etvde l'Image the French photographer born in 1961 is showing some of the famous faces that are his signature, such as Clint Eastwood and David Lynch. Generally face-on and eye-to-eye, these encounters are always envisaged as "friendly skirmishes" with the subjects of his photographs. "A photo is two people meeting, that's all. Like a handshake or an exchange of looks." No way does he spend hours in the studio or search for some pseudo-spiritual standpoint. Alongside these is hung his more personal work, mainly showing for the first time, such as his series on fashion, minds, vanities, still lifes and North Korea.
