On 31 December 2014, the Grimaldi Forum audience come to applaud Jean-Christophe Maillot's Faust also witnessed Bernice Coppieters's last performance as the Ballets de Monte-Carlo's principal dancer. An emotional night for the Belgian-born (1970) former soloist with the Ballet Royal de Flandres, who was surely remembering her first steps on a Monegasque stage, more than 20 years ago! Her career in the Principality is far from over, however, as she who inspired some of the most notable characters in the director-choreographer's creations will dance on the company's tours for another few months before taking on the role of ballet mistress and helping to stage, in Monaco and abroad, the ballets that have made her famous the world over.
