After a Shakespeare cycle the spotlight now turns on the ladies, to whom the Théâtre de Nice pays tribute with the Printemps des Femmes festival from 19 May to 7 June. Among the five shows scheduled, Sandrine Bonnaire, alone on stage in L'odeur des planches (20-23 May), relives the painful journey of Samira Sedira, an actress who lost her right to work in 2008. In Femme verticale (22-23 May) the voices of Anaïs Nin, Virginia Woolf, Andrée Chedid, Nancy Huston, Virginie Despentes and other female writers can be heard and appreciated once again. Another high point is Vers Wanda (3-7 June), a collective creation inspired by Nathalie Léger's delightful book on American actress and director Barbara Loden, wife of Elia Kazan and author of a single, now-cult film: Wanda.
