Musée Marc Chagall

Woven works.

We know Chagall as a painter, but were you aware that when he was living here in the South, after the Second World War, this wonderful colourist explored other media including weaving? On the 30th anniversary of his death, the museum is displaying 12 of his huge tapestries alongside the pictures that served as his cartoons. The pieces were created in collaboration with Les Gobelins weavers or gifted artisans such as Yvette Cauquil-Prince. An exhibition that encourages us to decompartmentalise creativity.
