In art, scenes of intimacy have long been depicted “at home“. To explore this portrayal of private interiors and how they evolved down the centuries, Hôtel Villeneuve, home to the Fragonard Museum, is showing some 30 paintings from the quattrocento to the present day, with familiar names such as Lorenzo Monaco, Giovanni Paolo Panini, François-Marius Granet and Pierre Bonnard dialoguing with contemporary artists. In parallel, the garden rooms display 25 photos of home interiors around the world, illustrating the cultural diversity of this intimacy. And the Provençal Costume and Jewellery Museum is hosting its first guest collection, that of Magali Pascal and daughter Odile, telling the story of Arlesian costume from the 18th to 20th century.
