From page to screen. Jacques Prévert lived more than 15 years in Saint-Paul, writing Children of Paradise here in 1945 with Marcel Carné and finishing the script of The Lovers of Verona for his neighbour, director André Cayatte, at La Colombe d’Or. Marking 120 years since the cinematograph’s invention, Saint-Paul-de-Vence focuses on its special relationship with cinema through the Jeux d’acteurs photo exhibition in the village museum and a trail of six big pictures in its streets. During the Cannes Film Festival and Riviera film shoots this tranquil village drew Georges Lautner, Mervyn LeRoy, Henri-Georges Clouzot and many more. Its squares, fountains and cobbled streets still make it a particularly cinegenic location.
