he Culbuto art collective was born in 2013 after its members were invited to Villa Garikula in Georgia for a month-long residence; its very first artwork was a tree in a parabolic pot that interacted with the wind. One of the art scene’s genuine catalysts, the group (which includes Aurélien Cornut-Gentille, Paul Le Bras and Vivien Roubaud) invited 16 artists to join it at La Station to create the stunningly dynamic exhibition Ad hoc, borne up by Culbuto’s energy and grounded in the values of sharing, exchange and dialogue. These creations born in situ are to be seen throughout the venue, and as a special treat the collective has produced a new version of its tree: a 7m palm tree that’s alive!
