The precious power of stones. Who has never picked up pebbles along the way and kept them like treasures? At Nice’s museum of modern and contemporary art, 24 artists including Marina Abramović, Michel Blazy, Eve Pietruschi and Emmanuel Régent set their imaginations to work on these unmoving yet very alive repositories of memory. Stones have the power of speaking to us of past, present and future. Some artists use them as found, like ready-mades, or collect them together or portray them; others experiment on them, transform them or produce imitations. As a result, we confront mysteries of nature and occult phenomena, and suddenly reality melds with fiction, belief with science, the visible with the non-visible.
