Des pochoirs qui interpellent...

The exhibition on the street-art maverick whose provocative satirical message pricks consciences is now in Saint-Tropez after a successful run at Bel-Air Fine Art in Geneva. The British artist so adept at injecting a poignant humour into his graffiti initially opted for stencilling as the fastest way of leaving his art on street walls at night. His works of political and social commentary feature everything from rats to policemen, children to the British Queen, sometimes accompanied by subversive epigrams. Banksy’s identity is still not known for certain and his practice has evolved over the years to include sculpture and large-scale events; his work now commands big prices at auction. This exhibition comprises series of works and screen prints but also original one-off pieces by the enigmatic artist now feted internationally.
