Since graduating from Villa Arson in 1990, Pascal Pinaud has become a leading light among artists working in the south of France. Questioning the action and history of painting, he eschews canvas in favour of three-dimensional assemblages for which he draws on artisan and even industrial practices. Bringing into play the concept of total art, he has taken over the château to reinvent its original function by transforming its exhibition rooms into a succession of living spaces. In a scenic design by Alexandre Curtet, hallway, studio, living room, child’s bedroom, master suite etc. give a fresh angle on Pinaud’s personality. Here his works dialogue with those of contemporaries with whom he shares aesthetic affinities, among them Noël Dolla, Matthieu Mercier, Natacha Lesueur and Philippe Ramette.
