The Villa Sauber is shining a spotlight on the life of a passionate collector couple and the contemporary art and objets d’art they amassed over several decades. “This exhibition presents a collection that is part of Monaco’s DNA, the story of a commitment to art from the 1950s to the present day,” explains its curator, Cristiano Raimondi. It tells the story of the acquisition of these artworks by the couple who settled in Monaco and whose son went on to become a gallerist. As they actively supported local artists, the exhibition features pieces by Ben, Arman, Robert Filliou and George Brecht, and the generation including Philippe Parreno and Philippe Perrin. The international scene is represented by Richard Prince, Cindy Sherman and Carsten Höller. There are photographers Helmut Newton, Andreas Gursky and Thomas Struth too, plus a remarkable collection of Ming vases from China.
