This intimate, welcoming theatre has released a high-value programme of well-known actors and poignant writing, covering classical drama to modern theatre to comedy.
The curtain rises on the Théâtre Princesse Grace's 2017-18 season, opening in style with Jean-Claude Grumberg's glorious wordplay delivered by Pierre Arditi and Daniel Russo as the two neighbours in the hilarious nine-scene L'être ou pas. "Very many bill-topping actors agree to play here and every year we renew our collaboration with the Comédie Française," enthuses Françoise Gamerdinger, the Principality's assistant director of cultural affairs, in charge of TPG management and programming for the last five years. This season includes Elliot Jenicot delivering the late great comic genius Raymond Devos's sketches in Les Fous ne sont plus ce qu'ils étaient. "We also have a wonderful reading by Patrick Timsit of Albert Cohen's Livre de ma mère as well as Alexis Michalik's Edmond," continues the former French teacher with a passion for words and connecting with audiences. "Three of our productions are being staged at the Grimaldi Forum, one being Croque-Monsieur with Fanny Ardant." Plus the Thomas Le Douarec company is bringing a new adaptation of Dostoyevsky's The Idiot.
