The Supports/Surfaces artists who came together in 1970 focused their artistic process on the picture’s basic components. Although the group lasted only two years, most of its proponents are still working today and have influenced subsequent generations, including these Back to the peinture artists. Dominique Figarella, Yann Gerstberger, Tom Giampieri, Virginie Hervieu-Monnet, Adrien Vescovi and We Are The Painters posit the movement’s influence on young French artists.
