Driven by her desire to energise, promote and rediscover dance, artistic director Brigitte Lefèvre has curated a festival on the theme of air, featuring 17 guest companies. Experience the power of a Carmina Burana choreographed by Claude Brumachon and the intimacy of the Trio Concert Dance night. While Robyn Orlin makes Louis XIV his central character, conversely a black sun kindles Damien Jalet’s show. The festival celebrates choreographers – Merce Cunningham, Maurice Béjart, Jean-Christophe Maillot – and spotlights women, such as Maud Le Pladec, Anne Nguyen and Jann Gallois. Cannes’s biennial also includes meetings, a symposium, masterclasses and the Studiotrade platform.
