Liz Magor, between real and simulated

For over 40 years Canadian artist Liz Magor has been scrutinising the way we relate to ordinary objects previously indispensable but now forgotten, to which she gives a fresh twist. The MAMAC’s 1200m² retrospective presents a selection of pieces she has created since 1989, which override “the static nature of sculpture, in particular by investigating the border between real and simulated: I spend hours creating objects that I previously considered unaesthetic and insignificant [...]. What interests me is the influence of the fabricated on the found.”
