The word "shark" often summons up terrifying images from Hollywood films, yet these lords of the sea are five times less deadly than jellyfish. They are also essential to our marine ecosystems – and are now endangered. To overcome preconceptions about these fascinating fish, the Musée océanographique de Monaco is hosting Requins, l’expo-sensation (Sharks, a Thrilling Experience). And to complete this very sensory experience, from this summer the museum is showing 11 artworks especially created by a collective of Chinese contemporary artists. The huge installations, sculptures, paintings and poems are scattered around the various rooms and panoramic terrace. Parkview Arts Action, who initiated the exhibition, have used the universal language of art to set us wondering about sharks.
