The tradition dates back to 1959, when Prince Rainier III and the orchestra's director set up a series of summer concerts in the main courtyard at the Prince's Palace. All summer long the courtyard is transformed into a concert hall where the resident orchestra is joined by talented conductors and soloists. This season it welcomes Katia & Marielle Labèque (piano), Roustem Saïtkoulov (winner of the 2003 Monte-Carlo Pianos Masters), Vadim Repin (violin), Katarzyna Medlarska (soprano) and Marl Milhofer (tenor), with Semyon Bychkov, Kazuki Yamada, Gianluigi Gelmetti and Rafaël Frühbeck de Burgos variously wielding the baton.
