The South of France is ever a choice destination for music festivals. The 54th Jazz à Juan (11-20 July) doesn't stint on big names – Chick Corea, George Benson, Stanley Clarke, Jamie Cullum – and makes big news on 18 July with a concert by Stevie Wonder supported by Gregory Porter, a recent American jazz revelation. The Nice Jazz Festival (8-12 July) convokes old timers and young generation alike and throws bridges between genres under the indulgent eye of patron Richard Galliano. Notable among the 30 concerts scheduled in the Jardins Albert 1er are Keziah Jones, Deep Purple and Cassius. World music has its own dedicated festival in the Nuits du Sud in Vence, whose open-air concerts on Place du Grand Jardin are always a resounding success. This 18th festival (11 July to 9 August) includes the legendary America, Garland Jeffreys, Thomas Dutronc, Bernard Lavilliers, Pink Martini, Jonny Lang, Gaëtan Roussel, The Wailers, IAM, Kassav and more.
