Antoine Bruy and Petros Efstathiadis were chosen from the 12 candidates proposed by artistic advisor Raphaëlle Stopin to receive the 23rd HSBC photography prize. Their work now features in a travelling show presently at the Musée de la Photographie André Villers and Galerie Sintitulo in Mougins. In soft hues Bruy captures habitats in which one cannot decide whether man or nature has the upper hand: amalgams of caravans, planks and solar panels, constructed in synch with the environment. Efstathiadis shows crazy constructions he made out of junk unearthed in the back gardens of his birth village. Images testifying to the hopes, now dashed, of the land where he grew up, Northern Greece.
