This summer Picasso is celebrated all over the Côte d’Azur. In Mougins, where he left a lasting impression, the Diurnes exhibition remembers the friendship between Picasso and another local figure, André Villers, by showing a joint work from 1961 (30 prototype plates composed of photos and cut-outs) loaned from the collections of the Musée de la Photographie André Villers. In the village you can see the huge carved head of Picasso unveiled on 8 April by its sculptor, Gabriël Sterk, and the town has also signed two “Picasso in Mougins” trails, notably including a visit to the 12th-century Notre-Dame-de-Vie chapel, adjacent to the mas of that name where the artist lived from 1961, plus reductions in the operation’s partner restaurants.
