This artist’s speciality? Installing huge permanent sculptures on the seabed, which time covers in coral, seaweed and shells. The British sculptor (born 1974) has left his mark and sealed his reputation off the coasts of Grenada, the Bahamas and Cancun and in the River Thames. His environmental art, shown in a photographic retrospective of his oeuvre on Ile Sainte-Marguerite, is now to be the subject of a wide-reaching new cultural project that Cannes City Council is engaging on with him. The first half of 2019 will see the inauguration of France’s first “underwater ecomuseum”, peopled by six specially created sculptures depicting Cannes inhabitants, men and women of today frozen in their movements. Fantastic!
